Nisaa or The Women
Notes and response:
- God talking to Humankind (sounds more like the male audience) in essence of the establishment of the distribution of dowery (atleast in the beginning portion of the chapter).
- I found Section 15/16 to be interesting where if ONE female found "guilty of lewdness" would be punished of confinement while only if TWO males are found "guilty of lewdness" should be confined.
- In Section 34 there is an indirect way of "pointing fingers" at the sex that is stronger. I want to know if this is also done in other Quranic translation. The Sentence is as follows: "Men are the protectors and maintaniers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and becasue they support them for their means." In addition to this translation I also want to know if the word "strength" is added on to the translation.
- Also in Section 34 there was a part that says that it is possible to "beat them (lightly)" referring to females. I was wondering if if "lightly" was included in other translations.
